"Not Supported Method" error when trying to sign into MyVerizon with Chrome Browser

For the past week or two whenever I try and log into the MyVerizon site to check my bill I get an error message saying "Not Supported Method".  This happens weather I use login screen that pops up when I first visit the site, use the login boxes on the right side of the page, or use the "Sign In" button in the upper right hand corner of the screen.

Same issue as here: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Chrome/thread?tid=126522d6d3ccb9dd&hl=en

I'm on the latest Chrome browser: 15.0.874.106

P.S. I just found an inconvenient workaround coming to the forums here to sign in first.. It seems I'm now logged in across the rest of Verizon.

Please fix this, I'd like to be able to sign into my MyVerizon account directly like I was able to a few weeks ago..

Good Morning,

 Google Chrome at this time is not a supported browser. You may be able to use it and for some locations or features it will work but as far as Verizon supporting Google Chrome it is not one that we support.  We support  Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and MacIntosh Safari.  The link below will show the browsers that we do support http://www22.verizon.com/ResidentialHelp/FiOSInternet/General+Support/Top+Questions/QuestionsOne/121...

 The VZ site will prompt you to use a supported browser if you are having trouble viewng a page. When we go to MyVerizon using an HP Touchpad that has WebOS browser it tells us that certain featured do not work and to use a supported browser such as IE or FireFox.

Thanks,

Tonya,

You should check on this link:

Very clearly Google Chrome is a supported browser. Verizon is just terrible at keeping their web pages updated and often you can find clearly conflicting information.

Now the link I just provided says Chrome 12.x while the OP says they are using 15.x. That may very well be the issue for that person. But the other posts talk about IE and Firefox, both of which are in fact supported and yet not working.

My experience with playing around with IE, Firefox, and Chrome, and Safari on my Windows PC, plus exchanges with users here who have experienced various problems, is that frequently they have either browser add-ons installed that conflict with Verizon websites or settings that are incompatible, or sometimes that they have an anti-virus or firewall tool installed that prevents proper access. My suggestions when people have issues are to start their browser without any add-ons to see if the issue goes away, and if that doesn't work to try disabling temporarily their anti-virus and/or firewall, amazing how often one of those fixes the issue.

After browsing the web, I discovered a thread on Mozilla's forums that suggested removing any and all cookies associated with Verizon as well as clearing the cache. Specific instructions on how to delete individual cookies can be found here

Just a quick update, I just accessed My Verizon just fine with Google Chrome 15.0.874.121 (on Windows 7). Checked phone logs, billing, DVR access, email, news, account tools, etc, all fine.

The URL I am using to log in on both Chrome and Firefox is:

https://www22.verizon.com/Foryourhome/MyAccount/Unprotected/UserManagement/Login/Login.aspx

Don't know what that says other than My Verizon will work for me with the latest Google Chrome.

I just started up Chrome 16.0.912.63 and was able to log into MyVerizon just fine. Here is the URL I used:

https://www22.verizon.com/Foryourhome/MyAccount/Unprotected/UserManagement/Login/Login.aspx

Is this what you are using? If not, does the above work for you in Chrome?

One possibility is that some add-on that you have installed or updated in the last week is causing the problem. Have you tried starting Chrome without any add-ons to see if you can access MyVerizon then?

That is all I can think of right now. As I said, works fine for me.

Considering Chrome now has a greater share of the overall browser market than Firefox, hopefully this statement is not factually accurate.

Just for the record, I have version 16.0.912.63 of Google Chrome ( latest version as of today) and still gives me the "not supported method" error when I try to login.     when I use FireFox, it works fine.   So is Verizon searching for a solution for this error, or is everyone assuming that "it works fine?"   thanks

traveler, did you only log in with Firefox once, or did you log in, log out, and then try logging in again? First logins work fine, the problem is when you try to log in a second time or any time after that for me.

Not true for me. I can log in and out over and over using Firefox and it continues to work just fine.

I did a complete uninstall and fresh install of Mozilla Firefox (whatever the latest stable non-beta/alpha version is) on my desktop and it solved the problem in Firefox for me. I suspect that it is a setting which was being carried over from a previous Firefox version. I also found this thread, in which someone suggests the developers may be aware of this and trying to find a solution already: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Chrome/thread?tid=126522d6d3ccb9dd&hl=en

Seriously, I just logged into My Verizon from Google Chrome no problem, and all of the various functions I tried worked (I certainly did not try them all):

I am using the latest level of Chrome under Windows 7. Can you not log in, or do some functions not work correctly? I have a fair number of extensions installed, do you? If so maybe one of them is causing the problem. I suggest you try starting Chrome with those extensions disabled and see if the problem goes away.

Justin, please try logging out and in again. This is a widely known problem and has been reported numerous times on this forum, Google's Chrome forums, and in various other places. The problem definitely exists and is not caused by user error. It is directly related to the existence of the signin.verizon.com cookie.

If the cookie exists, this happens:

t=1324657567344 [st=212]           HTTP_TRANSACTION_SEND_REQUEST_HEADERS
                                   --> POST /amserver/UI/Login?realm=dotcom... HTTP/1.1
                                       Cookie: [value was stripped]
t=1324657567345 [st=213]       -HTTP_TRANSACTION_SEND_REQUEST
t=1324657567345 [st=213]       +HTTP_TRANSACTION_READ_HEADERS       [dt= 98]
t=1324657567345 [st=213]           HTTP_STREAM_PARSER_READ_HEADERS  [dt= 98]
t=1324657567443 [st=311]           HTTP_TRANSACTION_READ_RESPONSE_HEADERS
                                   --> HTTP/1.0 501 Not Supported

If the cookie does not exist, this happens:

t=1324657668788 [st=129]           HTTP_TRANSACTION_SEND_REQUEST_HEADERS
                                   --> POST /amserver/UI/Login?realm=dotcom... HTTP/1.1

t=1324657668788 [st=129]           HTTP_STREAM_PARSER_READ_HEADERS  [dt=186]
t=1324657668974 [st=315]           HTTP_TRANSACTION_READ_RESPONSE_HEADERS
