verizon wont refund a charge I was told I wouldnt have to pay

I did a trade in at the end of February. I sent in my old phone on March 3rd and the tracking number shows that it was delivered March 6th. But I noticed on my bill for March-April that there was a $500 one time 19-36 month charge. I looked into this more and found that the reason is because the status of my trade in is still showing as "shipped". I contacted customer service and I was told that the charge would be waived because they could see on their end that the old phone was delivered and that I just needed to pay the regular amount that it's supposed to be. So I paid the bill, leaving out the $500.

I thought this had been resolved until I received an email saying I was charged $500. So I once again contacted customer service and now they're trying to give me a credit instead of refunding me my money. I asked why and was told that their system won't allow the refund because my status would then be changed to "overdue". I was then told that I need to wait until the next billing information shows up on my account and that once I receive the $500 credit, they can then submit a new request to credit the $500 to the original form of payment. Honestly this is ridiculous that I can't just receive a refund and they keep trying to credit me.

I sent in my phone. The tracking SHOWS it was delivered. And customer service told me the charge would be waived. Why didn't that happen? I want my money back. I don't want a credit. I paid the amount that my bill was supposed to be just like I was told to do. This is ridiculous and extremely annoying. I just WANT MY MONEY BACK.

They did this to me also. 3 months later they applied a credit to my account that was immediately taken because I had a bill (that wasnโ€™t even due). I am canceling Verizon. I have been a customer for nearly 10 years.

RandiBacole, it's great you've been with us for over a decade. It'd be disheartening to have that end due to something we can review and take a look at together. So I can better understand what's happening, is the charge that occured related to a trade-in promotion or something different?
