My 86 year old neighbor paid $60 a month for wifi. When she has no access to a computer, a smart phone, nor a smart tv!! She told the customer service agent and technician when they set up her home phone, which she needs for emergencies and she uses to keep in contact with people. They insisted she needed it for her phone to work. I finally realized (I am just her neighbor and a nice person) and got them to cancel it but what about the $2000 they stole from her??? When I called I was told "there is nothing we can do. sorry."

I don't know if your neighbor had a voice over internet protocol line using a modem, or a Fios Home Phone line, but these types of technologies come with Wi-Fi and it can't be shut off because that's like trying to build a house with no foundation. Verizon at least used to offer traditional copper wire landline service, but such technology is rapidly disappearing. The Blue Logo Place still does this type of service as my father still has a copper wire landline with them, but it costs as much as getting an unlimited cell phone plan!
I'm not a Verizon employee, just another customer trying to help.
