BB10 OS Update 10.0.10.85 - When will it be released

Has anyone heard as to when the current version of the software will be pushed?   Some of the apps are requiring the update, and I would like to know when Verizon will get around to pushing it.   Previously, you could just go to the blackberry site and download the OS, but that's not an option any longer.

TIA

I'd like this answer too.  Beyond the app issue, this upgrade is supposed to help with the battery life significantly and the "automatic" phantom reboot issue which has just begun to happen on my phone.

Verizon needs to get this software upgrade pushed out.

I too would like to push for an answer on this.  Is it BlackBerry holding back the update or is it Verizon?  If its Verizon, you need to get your noses out of your pants and push the update already!  BlackBerry already goes through a QA (Quality Assurance) process before the update is made available, there is NO REASON Verizon needs to be doing another QA!  If a manufacturer sends you an updated OS, turn around and pass it to the customers, end of story!  If its BlackBerry having issues, then thats a whole other story.

Since the update has already been pushed out on Rogers/Bell/AT&T and other carriers, it had to be Verizon holding it up.   There is a report of the .82 release causing hanging....but not sure if that was corrected in .85.

Ha ha welcome to Verizon Wireless.....

This is the slowest cell provider when it comes to pushing out updates. They take forever. You know they have to add their bloatware and useless apps don't you?

This phone should have been released with the up-to-date OS on day of sale. They had it long enough waiting for the release day, vis-a-vie pre-release sale.

I see loads of complaints about slow updates so its not just the Blackberry device.

All phones are sent out with the current OS at the date of manufacture.   Because Blackberry chooses to update their OS actively is why the device has an older version of the OS, but this was always a practice.  The disconnect here is that previously it could be updated by downloading the OS from Blackberry's website, but no longer an option.

I am (virtually) button mashing every day to see if the update has been released for the reasons stated above...hoping it comes soon, and yes, Verizon has always been methodical in their releases, which adds alot of slowness.  I would recommend anyone reading this board to add a comment to show the amount of people with the device who are asking for the update.

As I previously said to another poster on a different thread. When i gave him the Blackberry link page for downloads and updates he also told me that Verizon won't allow it to be done that way, and that it is only by OTA.

I have advocated that all cell phones should have the ability to get their updates from the manufacturers instead of getting long delays and crap ware placed on your devices. What ever brand they may be.

With the old BBOS (7.1 or less) you could simply grab an os update from another carrier and remove the Vendor file.  This is not possible for BB10.  It is very irritating to have to wait for some unknown reason for an update that fixes several bugs on the new os.  Don't get me wrong the phone is sweet but like any new software there are fixes and patches.  If there is a reason than tell us and give us an expected date of release.  The really bad thing about Verizon is the lack of communication on things like this.  No information = don't really care about your customer in our eyes. I tweeted to Customer support about the update and really all I got was a [removal required by the Verizon Wireless Terms of Service] reply.  Not cool.

I am glad this post was started because I was giong to begin one.  I have dowmloaded an APP that requires 10.0.10 to function..... I do not know why the delay because it has been pushed by other carriers.    I think you can get it off of the [removal required by the Verizon Wireless Terms of Service] site if you are really interested.

I would rather the push come from Verizon....Please folks make this happen soon!!!!

wish I would have read the fine print on the ridiculous drag on software updates before becoming a verizon user. Why would Verizon choose to lag this much on a product? Is that great customer service? Give people credit for being sophisticated enough to know the risk of updates and that they need to back up their device data. Put more effort in allowing users to "easily" back out updates and choose a version to install in case the latest updates (I assume you fear will cause you a swell of customer interactions) cause an issue.

I'm a brand new customer and I'm already sick of the delay...In this day and time there is no reason to restrict consumers from having the best operating equipment as much as we pay for this stuff and you...

(I have to check, but I haven't seen any official Verizon rep chime in on these boards that we have to sign into...So what's the point if the consumer is being ignored to post in here? I'll check other post to see if anyone is checking)

In the end we will unlock our phones and just go get what we needed...

Lotts, this is a peer to peer community forum and not a direct link to customer support.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

It should still be at least monitored for customer concerns if VZW is truly concerned with customer satisfaction.

Visit [removal required by the Verizon Wireless Terms of Service] dot com, you'll see that many are frustrated with VZW's slow release of OS updates, and have decided to perform installation of the leaked OS's, of course, at their own risk. Instructions for performing the installs are provided there as well.

10.2 is in the works but VZW customers still waiting on 10.1? Lots of apps that won't run on 10.0. Will VZW at least release a statement explaining the long wait for an update?

It's deliberate. Verizon has other partnerships with Samsung and Microsoft that do not involve phones. It is also trying to prop up the Windows-based Nokia phones as much as they can. As a result, they are dragging their feet on BB10. I can see absolutely no other reasons for them to have such a long delay in upgrading the OS to 10.1 when all other non-US carriers around the world have done so and scores of Verizon BB10 users are running leaked versions of 10.1 without issues. They are so far behind that the leaks are now 10.2 versions, not 10.1

Spoke to Verizon this morning who said that we have to get the update from BlackBerry.  Called BlackBerry aftewards who told me that have released the updates to all of the service providers so we have to get it from Verizon.  At this point we are about two updates behind  as 10.1 has been pushed.  Bottom line is someone is not telling the truth.  This is more than frustrating.

Having just come on to Verizon from a competitor solely because my former carrier turned a deaf ear to the wants of its blackberry community, I find the OS game to a touch annoying.  Even moreso when you consider that the Q10 shipped with 10.1 preinstalled.  Had intended on downloading the CNN app but since I dont have 10.0 I cannot, and I wont go into not  having SKYPE wheras the Q10 does Someone is asleep at the wheel and needs a serious wakeup

After having to receive a replacement Z10 for cycling power on and off, tonight I was on the phone with a rep. I asked about the update and it is something new in the pipeline but they weren't able to provide a timeline. So it has been released from BBY to Verizon. Verizon is holding it for whatever reason, quite possibly to make sure it fixes the problems that are currently known. Still doesn't excuse the fact that we cannot download certain Apps because of the current software, but I am at least now hopeful it will be relatively soon.

Does anyone have an update on when VZW will finally release OS 10.1? It looks like AT&T has begun pushing it out to their subscribers, which makes VZW the last major carrier holdout on the 10.1 update. If you're listening, VZW, please at least let us know when we will get the update!  THANKS!
