Blackberry 8830 DOES NOT work in Argentina!

Hello,
I am in Argentina now. Before I left, I purchased a verizon wireless sim card and activated my data plan from the $30 plan to the $69 plan. They assured me that the phone will work in Buenos Aires, it does not! I dont feel like purchasing a calling card to call the global support number.
Is the phone supposed to work in Buenos Aires? Is there anything I need to change on the settings? The SIM card is activated too and worked in Brazil, but will not work here.

The phone is supposed to work for both Voice and Data while in Argentina. However, there is not a list of specific city's that it will work in, but I imagine if you're in a large area it should work as normal. There aren't any settings that you need to change if it already worked in Brazil.
Try doing a soft reset by pulling the battery while the phone is on.
