Blackberry Curve 3G vs. Blackberry Bold 9650

My upgrade is in 26 days. I would like Pros and Cons of both, what the difference is between the two and why one of them would be better than the other.  It’s a tough decision and I would like to make the best choice for me, seeing as how I will have this phone for the next 2 years and I don’t want to spend several hours in the Verizon store figuring out everything at the last minute. I know the Blackberry Bold is on the higher end of the blackberry spectrum. Thank you all so much:smileyhappy:

Hi,

A few months ago, I posted my thoughts on the Bold 9650 in the thread http://community.vzw.com/t5/BlackBerry-Devices/Tour-and-the-Bold-Compared/td-p/211580  I have had the Bold now for about 3 months and I love everything about it.  The large memory allows for more storage.  Actually, both devices have great, similar features, however, the Curve 3G is made of cheaper materials.  You can tell the difference by picking up both devices.  Because of the cheaper materials, the Curve 3G is cheaper in price.  Both have WiFi, and if you have been reading these forums over the past few weeks, a lot of people are taking advantage of the cheaper $15 dollar data plan.  I hate that fact for some of the Tour owners who don't have WiFi available on their devices.  But back to your question, I would go for the Bold, simply because it is a higher quality device and you will get your money's worth after you use it.  My advice would be to go down to one of the Verizon stores and play with both of the devices to get a feel for it.  The Bold has a higher quality screen resolution, too.  You will notice that when you pick up both devices.  Good luck,

Doc

Good morning.  I have my Curve 3G for about a month now and I love it.  I am a first time Blackberry user so this phone is all I know.  As far as the quality goes, I really don't have a problem with it.  The WiFi is great too, especially when I am able to connect to my home network.  I have noticed a faster response thu the WiFi.  At any rate, for the price it's a good phone, especially if you are new to the Blackberry scene.  As Doc has pointed out, the Bold is a little better in quality as far as feel goes and the memory.  My Curve 3G has 512MB internal memory and works fine for me, however I will be buying a memory card here shortly.

My Blackberry is for both business and personal use, so it will work well for whichever you need it for.

The choice is really up to you, obviously.  It is going to depend on how much you can afford to spend and how well you take care of the phone.  If you go with the Curve 3G, get a hard case for it and you will never know the difference as far as the feel goes.  Nothing against the Bold Doc, but for now, I am satisfied with my Curve 3G.
