Blackberry Desktop Manager

I am new to BB. Just got a Pearl Flip, and I like it so far. My question is how do I read the .ild files that the Desktop Manager puts on my computer for backup and restore?  Windows says that it can't read .ild files.

Not sure this will work, but have your tried rendering it with notepad??  Right click the file, open with, notepad..........
