It's certainly important to be able to use a device that you love, DONUT_1216. At this time we do not have more information regarding the BlackBerry KEYone. Our current smartphone device lineup includes Android and iOS devices. We take customer feedback very seriously and I appreciate your input. While we can't confirm that we will carry this device in the future, you can enter your information here http://vz.to/2nNlkx4 to be the first to know about our new products in the meantime. I hope this is beneficial.

Upgraded from the Priv to the Keyone. Love the phone. 2 day battery life. Purchased unlocked version for Verizon at Best Buy. Just swap the simm cards. No issues. Run GSM and lte/cdma. In my area usually stay on CDMA cell service. Great phone. Waiting to upgrade my wife to the new Motion since she is not into keyboard. Hard to beat at the price compared to the main name brands.

Why when Verizon is phasing out CDMA by Dec 31 2019 and won't allow CDMA only devices to be activated on it's network after June 30th 2018.

It's simple really when you remember that these BlackBerry phones that have CDMA are NOT CDMA only.
My KEYone is CDMA and unlocked GSM, therefore should Verizon flip a switch that CDMA no longer works,
likely a new SIM and phone would work because it is also GSM.
VZW first announced they would drop CDMA around 2014, so not holding my breath. So if I want a BlackBerry Motion, for now at least, we need CDMA.

KEYone has the correct bands.

Looks like I have problem with Convoy IV. Three of them on my account.
Think I would have gotten a notice from VZW.

Then what are you complaining abut if it has the correct bands? Put your Verizon SIM in it.
As far as the Convoys why would you get a notice NOW when you have util Dec 2019?

As a long time Blackberry fan myself, Dick, I definitely understand wanting to know if Verizon will sell or support Blackberry in the future. While we don't have any announcements at this time regarding selling Blackberry devices, many 4g devices are supported by Verizon. You indicated that you recently purchased and activated an unlocked Blackberry phone on our network. Many unlocked 4g devices will work on our network. You can always reach out to Verizon with the IMEI of the device to ensure that the phone you are interested in purchasing will work on our network. To activate a phone you can go to vzw.com/activate. Does this help clarify your concerns? -Ryan

So the big question is... does this open up Verizon network to the vast number of GSM only phones out there. (As long as they have compatible LTE bands) ?
Or is Verizon still an exclusive club....

You do realize Verizon sells phones without CDMA in them RIGHT NOW and have for months.

None of those phones have any interest for me. I am BlackBerry fan.
As far as putting SIM in KEYone, I have been using it all along on VZW.
Not what this thread is about, it's about Verizon supporting BlackBerry, KEYone in this case.
For the record, I'm a long, long time customer of Verizon Wireless.
And I'm not complaining, just trying to get an update.

It was just a response. To be honest, I didn't notice whom you quoted.
Blame it on very old age.

mama23dogs,
That is an excellent question when it comes to service with Verizon. I definitely understand the importance of having compatibility with other devices and flexibility to be able to use the device where and when you need it.
I am always keeping an eye out as well for the latest and greatest devices. While I can't necessarily speak to other carriers devices and if they are going to launch on our network, I can provide you with a great tool that will verify if the device can be activated on our network. With this link ( http://spr.ly/6589Dr1sW ), specifically under General Information, #3, you will be able to check if a device from another carrier can be activated on your Verizon account.
We are always here to assist and answer any question that you may have about your Verizon Wireless services. With the information that I have provided, does this help clear up the details?

To show that our CDMA phones are not CDMA only, the Samsung Convoy IV basic flip phone my wife uses works on CDMA out of the box. If you remove the battery, there is a SIM slot there to use the phone on GSM.
So her basic phone is ready when VZW flips the switch.
