Blackberry Storm 2 BIS and BBM

Hello

I need help. I purchased a second hand Blackberry Storm II (9550) in South Africa. I am in South Africa and the phone is on Verizon Wireless network. The phone uses a CDMA network and in South Africa we use GSM. I need this phone to work completely. Someone suggested that I must sent the phone's IMEI number to Verizon so that they can release the phone to GSM. Is this true and how does one go about doing that??

This happened after the Blackberry services crashed around the world sometime last year but I didnt know about it so I'm stuck with the phone now.

Hi loyiso!  I can understand the need to be able to use your Blackberry device while traveling abroad.  I would love to help.  The Blackberry Storm II comes with a 3G SIM that enables it to be used on GSM technology.  These services must be activated prior to leaving the U.S. in order to be used in GSM network areas.  However, if you need the 3G SIM to be unlocked, you must be a current Verizon Wireless customer and the device would have to be active on the account.  There are other qualifications to unlocking a 3G SIM for global use, however, let’s start with these.  Let me know if you fall within these qualifications so we can proceed.  Thanks!

Hi there, thanks for the reply

This is the situation

I bought a Blackberry Storm 2. Its on the Verizon network. I am now in South

Africa, my home country. I was able to use it for a while, but now everything

just switched off, the internet, BBM, BIS, BES. Someone said it is because it

is on CDMA and here we use GSM.

Kindly unlock for me for the device to be used globally.

Regards

Andrew
