The portrait view keyboard apparently was changed and the old version of the standard keyboard with T9Word type is now replaced with SureType... Is there any way of getting the old portrait view keyboard back? It was my preference over any of the new portrait style keyboards.

Menu (aka Blackberry button)>Enable Multitap.

That didn't work. It is ABC mode when it does the multitap. Is there any way of getting the normal T9Word portrait keyboard on it? Like the one before the upgrade.

Go to menu button, aka blackberry button, and select either Multitap which is the abc buttons like a regular phone, suretype which is most like T9, and full qwerty keyboard.
Those are the only three options available with the BB Storm.
Good luck.

Blackberries don't have T9. The Storm has Suretype, multitap and full qwerty. Suretype is the predictive text entry that is similar to T9. You can choose the one you want as the default keyboard for portrait view in Options>Screen/Keyboard.
I even reviewed the original manual and these three were the only input options mentioned. The ugrade added the ability to use the full qwerty in portrait.
