Blackberry Storm Software Update???

BigUpYourSelf11
So a great deal of rumors are circling regarding an OS update for the 9530.  Anyone have any idea as to when this update will be pushed?  I don't know about all of you but I sure hope they update the Storm ASAP!!!

While this is true that many other carriers have released official OS's, the "rumor mill" has it that VZW has rejected several of the last releases that RIM has presented. I can't say that I blame VZW for the standoff. Several of the official releases in question still have many bugs. Too many to list. Don't get me wrong,  something is better than nothing. IMHO, VZW kinda dropped the ball with the release of the storm as I'm sure many will attest to. The device was pushed on to the consumer with .65 OS with a follow up release, (.75 or MR1) which seemed to stabilize some of the inherent issues of the original device with original hardware. Now that the device has had some months to grow, hardware has been updated along with new official releases to other carriers that gave VZW time to sit back at take a wait  and see approach.

Next opinion. I have heard that all 4.7.xx.xxx software programming has been stopped. Newer platforms are being tested. These platforms will start in the 5.0.xx.xxx. This is where I think VZW is heading. Which will mean a new version of Desktop Manager etc. etc...

Even now the leaked betas that are floating around the web are still not perfect. They sure beat .75 hands down. Telus is on .122 however .141 .exe was leaked yesterday for the 9530's. Now there is an official .141 .exe for the 9500's (Vodaphone). Still has many bugs. I currently upgraded from .122 to .132 and am very impressed. very stable and rigid. So for all those that have to wait. It will be worth it.

I'm still very disappointed with VZW with the way the have shunned the consumer regarding this device. Sure, they can just keep replacing the device for you but is this just the definition of insanity.

Good luck to all.

I couldn't agree more with what you have said and I've got quite a few posts out there saying precisely this.    The other three carreirs have been more forthcoming in accepting those unofficial releases from RIM, whereas Verizon has been in a stalemate with RIM over this with only one being accepted (.75).

But man I am giving you Kudos for very correctly saying the Verizon dropped the ball in releasing this device in the first place!  They knew it was flawed and yet wanted to grab the holiday shopping fast buck.   Their customers have been paying a price ever since.   I wish there were more people like you who openly take our beloved Verizon to task when they need to be so taken.   I'm not leaving them but they blundered badly in how they treated us with this device and not only has there been little relief from them . . . but there's also been not even the slightest hint of an apology.    They're wrong and they know it.

Well,  at this point in time, I have nothing other than a promise.

Call made from home, with Skype, and recorded for my reflection of what transpired, not to use as a club over anyone's head.

If it comes down to the option that was offered and not responded to as mention by the rep,  while shame on me, and I will seek out a different carrier.  Not complicated at all.

Inadequate phone along with broken promises, should result in finding life elsewhere.

However this has not come down to this,  at this point in time.
