Connecting Blackberry 3G 9330 to internet with WiFi

I have a Blackberry Curve (see above).  I can turn on the WiFi capability.  The "WiFi" icon comes up.  I can connect to my secured wireless modem (it shows it is connected), however, I cannot surf the web.  It keeps telling me that i have no connection.  Any suggestions?
