Facebook 1.9.0.20 and location issues

I installed the Facebook upgrade on my Storm 9550 a few weeks back.  All works well except the options / location check box. I am unable to check this option since it is grayed out.

• options/adv options/gps/ (data source"device gps", gps service"location on",location aiding"enabled")
• options/applications/add-on/facebook/edit default permissions/(connections"allowed",interactions"allowed",user  data"allowed")
• options/applications/add-on/facebook/disable compatibility
• I have checked my online facebook account settings as well on home computer

when clicking the "places" icon in the facebook mobile app there seems to be an attempt to do this task, but the end results are always the same. Some suggest this option depends on where you live as to whether it is available or not. I don't know what to believe, but I would like to have an answer. Anyone have a clue? Where can I find true support for these answers?

Thanks for the link. Where I live at, the 3g icon rarely comes up on my phone. I discovered that the first time you try to check in you need to be in the 3g network. Everything works like a charm now, even at the house.
