I am wondering how do I get the Camera to Geo-Tag pictures I take with the camera. I have the latest OS 5.0.0.732 update with Language English(UK), Location Aiding On and also Location On. It is showing the GPS icon on the main screen: a cross-hair and increasing ")))", is this because I am inside?

Okay, I have upgraded to the 9650 and the Geotagging does work. I see a GPS icon (The Target w/arrows) and it is confirmed by asking to map it out and in properties it says it is geotagged. Also my charging pod works with my 2600mAh battery.

Hi,
Open the camera application. Check the options and make sure geotagging is enabled. I have found that I have to also open Blackberry Maps and turn start GPS Navigation and leave maps running in the background. See if that will work for you, as it does for me.

Make sure you go into MENU-OPTIONS-AVANCED OPTIONS-GPS and turn GPS Services to Location On. Then in camera make sure your geotagging is enabled in the Camera settings and save changes and you will see a little icon on the bottom right that looks like a scope. If its showing NOT red your pics will have the GPS coordinates.
I never had to run the BB Maps in order to get mine to work. Thats interesting though...

Hi,
That was the way I had to get it to work on my old Tour, however, I just tried geotagging with my 9650 Bold, and it works fine. I enabled GPS in the Options and enabled geotagging in the camera options and it worked. I did not have to run any Maps or any other program. Maybe that was a glitch in 4.7 software when I had my Tour, I don't know... Anyways, it works. In the camera, if it is enabled, the little cross hair will appear at the bottom of the camera screen towards the right.

Ok Doc for us ignorant users, what does the Geo tagging do? My S1 has all you all have discussed. I activated mine and I have the red cross hair in the bottom right of pic frame. But what do I want to do with this?

Hey,
That is a good question, as some folks may not know about geotagging. Geotagging is a way of adding GPS coordintes to the metadata of a picture that you take on your camera. Every digital picture taken has some basic metadata describing the size of the picture, date, camera settings, etc. Your phone can embed that GPS info right in the metadata. This can be useful if you were on, say, a vacation and wanted to tag each photo with a location. Certain map applications allow you to place those coordinates on the map and you can see every place you visited and took pictures. I think Google Earth allows you to also do this too. Anyways, it is a pretty cool little feature.

In regards to the crosshair mine still has an 'x' next to it, does yours have anything? As with the Bold does the geotagging work with the Storm2 and the latest update? How is the Storm2 in regards to the Geotagging? I am actually thinking of it besides the Bold for the screen real estate(good for internet browsing, pdf viewing).

Never mind about the Storm2, I am just going to stick with getting the Tour1 replaced with the Tour2(Bold) because it should be easier because of that fact.

I was given a refurbed Tour9630 and I still get the x next to the gps icon on the right with the camera. I am going to go for either a Storm2 for the screen space or the Bold for more memory.

Hi, all,
A little bit of follow up to this thread concerning geotagging photos. I had always heard of Flickr and finally went to their website to check it out. It is a great place for storing photos with many other photo services. Long story short, I installed the Blackberry app for Flickr on my Bold 9650 and it works great with geotagging. I can simply take a picture, with geotagging enabled in the camera's options, and send the picture from my device to Flickr. On my Flickr page, I can pull up a map and my geotagged photos appear at the coordinates where the photo was taken. Pretty cool. I just thought I would pass this little bit of information along to you.
