I foolishly tried to download the new BBM app on my Curve 8300 and it completely deleted my BBM! I don't want to have to get another phone, unless that's the ONLY way I can get the application back. Any ideas? 😕

I did this too. Haha. Good times.

Load up Blackberry Desktop manager and click on the application loader. In the list of apps that pulls up is BBM 4.5 still there unchecked? If it is all you would need to do is check it and click "next" at the bottom. This should reinstall it for you.

Thank you but unfortunately the app is not on the list. I installed the desktop manager on my mom's computer AFTER the incident, because the CD ROM never worked on my Mac... I have backed up my information now at least. New phone here I (still) come? 😕

You shouldn't have to get a new phone yet. You can do a hardwipe on the device, which erases all information from the phone and reinstalls the operating system.

So you would use Desktop Manager to back up your contacts/photos..etc and then on your phone under Options click on Security. Hit the menu button and select "handheld wipe". It would take about 10 minutes or so and it will reinstall everything. Then you'll just need to restore your personal data by sycning up with Desktop Manager again.

Cool! Is hard wipe the same as "memory cleaning"?

No. Memory cleaning just cleans out unnecessary system files like logs, caches, cookies...etc. to free up little bits of memory. A hardwipe is like formatting your computers harddrive and installing Windows from scratch, except not as hard.

Hi, I have the same problem and there is no option for 'Hardwipe'. I'm going to Options>Security Options> and the options there are: General Settings, Application permissions, Certificate servers, Certificates, Firewall, Key Stores, Memory Cleaning, Software Tokens, TLS and WTLS

Any help???

Go a little bit further. Click on General Settings then once inside hit your Blackberry Menu button and you'll see "wipe handheld".

You'll need to redownload your device software from www.blackberry.com/software. You want device software OS 4.5 for your Curve 8330. Download the files and follow the prompts to reinstall and it should recognize BBM is the only thing (hopefully) that you're missing.
