My friend's storm shuts itself down

My friend and I have separate Verizon Wireless accounts. Both of us have a BB Storm. Both WERE working fine got them in February. Starting today however, my friend's storm suddenly shut itself down. She tried to turn it back on but to no luck. If you pull the battery and put it back in the phone will go through the whole boot up process with the spinning clock or whatever that thing is then you get the message "Media Card Inserted" after that the Verizon Wireless logo comes up and you can see her home screen. Right after it does the "Verifying Security Software" screen with the progress bar and you get the message that the checks have all passed you get the Verizon Wireless logo again and off it goes. I have tried swapping batteries and that didn't fix and I've had it on to charge for a few hours but that didn't fix it either. I'm wondering if it's a software issue. If I could get the device to stay on long enough I could hook it up to the computer and reflash it but I would like anyone else's opinions. Is there a key combo to hard reset it?
