Hello and welcome! Well I'm not exactly sure what you mean by a "problem"? You can indeed start with a blackberry and then swtich to a different device and plan at any time. Whoever takes over the blackberry on verizon will have to qualify as being credit eligible as normal and be willing to pay the extra data plan charges. If you go to another BB or smartphone then you will continue to have a data plan. However, if you go to a regular phone then you will not have to have a data plan.
