No Keyboard Lock after Curve 8530 update!

I've looked high and low, and cannot find it!  I checked the hidden icons and it's not there either.  This is driving me crazy!  Has anyone had this problem and managed to fix it somehow?

The phone does not lock like it used to prior to the update.  You can put it in "sleep" like mode by holding the A key down.  You will notice a lock on that key.

Easy lock: Press & hold the * key to lock the phone and use the play/mute button on the top center of the device to unlock

Password Lock: Enable the password requirement on the phone to make the 'Password Lock' icon to appear

From the main screen, press Blackberry.
Scroll to Options, press Trackpad.
Scroll to Password, press Trackpad.
Options shown below:

  • Password
  • Number of password attempts
  • Security Timeout
  • Prompt on application install
  • Allow outgoing calls while locked
  • Lock Handheld Upon Holstering

Adjust as needed, press Blackberry. Scroll to Save, press Trackpad.

Hope this Helps!

Easiest thing to do is "update" your software by downloading an earlier version that will restore the option using your softkey to autolock the 8530

http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/devices/#tab_tab_update

Make sure your phone is connected to your PC with the USB cable and click the update button.

Use version 5.0.0.337 to get this function restored.

Takes about 20-30 minutes to download and update-worked like a charm!
