Hey, all,

Just wondering if some of you who read these forums on their Blackberry have found to be a good RSS reader.  Tell me what you like or dislike about the app.

Thanks,

Doc

Viigo is hands down the best RSS reader I've ever found. It's the only one I've used for 2 years. It runs very smoothly on my Tour and my Curve. It's awesome that it has the ability to post an article directly to Facebook, Twitter or Delicious. You can even get some Ebooks built into the app. I don't use the web browser for much because I have everything I read going directly into Viigo.

I don't use most of the services from the front page, but the good thing is you can remove them. I only have the News & RSS, Weather and Entertainment services on the first screen. Everything else has been removed. There's even a stripped down version of just the News & RSS service if you don't want to download the whole thing. I'll find the link for you if you want.

The Viigo team is constantly working on their app so it's always being improved and new stuff is always being added. I love it.

Good morning Doc, and pardon my ignorance, but the only RSS reader I have ever seen is on the top of my IE8 Explorer bar on my home comp. I am at a loss as to your question. I read these emails that come from this board in my BB email window. I tried replying to them and Lord knows where they go. Then I tried logging in and replying, but it will not recognize my log in info?

Good morning,

There are a few apps available for reading these forums and other news web pages on mobile devices.  If you look near the top of the forum list of topics next to where it says Enter New Message there is Board Options.  Click that and it gives an option to Subscribe to this boards RSS feed.  Click that and you get a generic page of the Blackberry forum.  The web site address for that generic page is the address you add to the RSS reader.

I saw on Blackberry App World Viigo was highly rated and have installed it on my Tour.  I added the address to this forum and it seems to work pretty well.  The only think I don't like about the Viigo so far is all of the extra stuff they include, but hey, it's free.  I also follow my local newspaper's top news stories on RSS feed.  I just want a way to view feeds in a condensed version that doesn't take long to load.

When I first got my Storm I remember seeing somewhere in it the Viigo. Now I cannot find it?

No, there wasn't a preinstalled link to Viigo when you first got your device. Maybe you saw it in App World? You can download it from there or check out their website www.viigo.com for download instructions.

Ok I found it under news apps in App World, the problem is it says I have less than 5.0MB left am I sure I want to download this app? Is there no way to install it in the 8 GB Media card?

Yikes.

Unfortunately there's no way to install the app to a memory card. The Blackberry OS structure does not currently have a way of reading apps from a memory card. The only thing you can do is archive the install file to a memory card, so that you don't have to redownload it, but you'll still need to actually install it into device memory.

Oh I just saw when I triggered it to download, it's only 1.4MB. Hope this will not start freezing up problems?
