Several Questions here?

Newbie

I just purchased a Blackberry Curve Broadband Smart Phone today now here comes the questions.

(1). Is there anyway to block text messaging on this phone?

(2). I signed up for the Data Plan I thought that included the Web but I cannot get on. Also will there be a charge for accessing the web from the phone? Also, is there a separate charge from Blackberry for web access?

(3). If there is no way to block text messaging am I going to be charged even if I do not text myself?

Also the phone is extremely slow to connect anyway to fix this?

Have become a little disenchanted  with it hope someone can help.

Thanks

Verizon may be able to block text messages on your account, but you would need to call support I think

The BlackBerry data plan includes web browsing, so no, there is no separate charge.

Maybe your phone hasn't been properly activated/provisioned yet.  I'd call support and have them check it.  And ask about blocking text messages at the same time.

Although there are many blocks, i do not think there is a block such as Texting... You are charged $0.25 per text, unless it is a Verizon Free Message. Your best bet would be to get at least 100 or 400 texting plan.

BlackBerry Intenret is around 24.95 a month, and includes unlimited web browsing, and a @vzw.blackberry.com e-mail address. If you are having problems you should visit your local Verizon Wireless Store for a tech to help :smileyhappy:

wow.... so much WRONG info.

yes, you can block text.  you should be able to do so thru My Verizon (my services, my plan, additional features).  otherwise you can call in to request.  there is no 100 or 400 message package - the lowest is 250 messages for $5.  without a plan, or a block, it's .20 per SMS, and .25 per MMS (pix/flix) -- whether you send OR receive a message.

the data plan is 29.99 includes "unlimited" data for browser and personal email (such as yahoo). if you're not able to connect thru the internet, there may be some settings that need to be changed.  without knowing what the exact problem is, it's hard to help.  if you don't have a browser icon, you may need to re-register your host routing table (options> advanced options> host routing table> menu - register now).
