Simple e-mail question for BB Storm

I just acquired a Storm and for the most part I like it but it does seem to add too many steps to the simplest of tasks.  An example of what I am contending is stated below and I wonder if there are any shortcuts available?

I choose compose an e-mail and then I have to pick which format I am going to use and then when I finish typing the e-mail I have to then click on the Menu and hit send.  This feels like too many steps.  I would simply like to click on send e-mail, type the e-mail and then hit send.  No menus and no questions. 

Does anyone know if this is possible?
