Why does the Blackberry Curve 9330 have a social messaging plan but the Curve 8530 doesn't? They are pretty much the same phone. I don't get it.

Hi lpfan0147! Thanks for bringing this question to the VZW Community! The Social Messaging service from BlackBerry is great! I've had a few chances to use it and really enjoy it. You point out that the 9330 Curve and the 8530 Curve are pretty much the same phone. Actually, I have found them to be quite different. The most immediate difference is their release dates. The 8530 was released on November 20, 2009, while the 9330 was just released on February 2, 2012. Since Social Messaging from BlackBerry is a recent offering, it would not be a feature that would be available to the a phone of more than 2 years' age.
Please let me know if you're interested in Social Messaging from BlackBerry. I can help you with your upgrade options. Thanks again!
