Unintuitive Blackberry Storm

I needed email, text, world wide capability and a camera.  About the only verizon equipment that met the test was the storm.  I hate it.

It's the most unintuitive device I have ever used.  I've had a BB for over 4 years, my last a curve.  This device is awful.  It's a little like a BMW, sophisticated for the sake of sophistication, not sophistication for the sake of functional elegance.

I concur with Newedroberts. The Blackberry storm is unintiutive and frustrating (at least for now). It's far better in concept than execution. And what it all comes down to is the software. I would have returned my Storm by now if I had not learned that a new software update from Verizon is coming, or at least is rumoured to be.

This phone could be awesome but it's crippled by very poor, unstable software. I believe RIM have released many updates for this phone which have improved a vast amount of issues, although it seems Verizon is tight lipped and dragging their feet on releasing their tailered "version" of it.

Some compaints:

--The camera is horrible. It takes quite a few seconds to take a picture, and nothing can move in those seconds or the picture turns out blurry. I took my new Storm to a concert and hoped to get some good shots but they all turned out blurry.

--I use Rhapsody To Go and transfer songs to my Storm. At random I will loose the "rights" to my music and have to update all track liscences from my computer. It's really annoying when I can't get to my computer.

--Unresponsive and sluggish menus. This has apparently been improved by RIM but not Verizon,  and is my biggest complaint. You do get used to it, but it's extremely frustrating when I'm in a hurry to something as simple as sending someone a TXT. Everything takes so long to do. Until I got used to it, everyday functions like calling someone were a chore.

--The Storm crashes. A lot. I guess the software is simply unstable and just shuts down every now and again. If you are in a hurry or need to make a call and this happens, you'll wait a few minutes for it to reboot before you can do anything. The other day I watched as my phone crashed twice in a row. It hasn't happened as often, since then because I remove the battery every now and again (like the Verizon salesman said I should...)

--I was taking some videos and when I tried to save them, I got an error message for "unsupported format". Weird.

-There are other annoying quirks as well.

Like I said, even though I was sorely dissapointed with the Storm at first I understand all of it's greatest problems can be solved by updates. That is the only reason I held on to it because I really want to love this phone. I'm getting used to how it works, although sometimes it drives me insane.

Hey Verizon. This is a nice phone but it's needs a software update and soon. RIM continues to crank out updates, so please, please help me love this phone and get it out to us.  I hear that other apps like Facebook have been updated too, so lets get goin.

On a final note, yes I am disappointed with both the Storm and Verizon updates but can be redeemed by getting a good update out that makes the Storm more funtional, intuitive, and fun.
