Upgrade to Blackberry Curve 8530 question! Need help ASAP!

Forgive me if I have posted this in the wrong section, as I am new to these. So here's our dilemma: Our primary line is eligible for an annual upgrade, however the user of that line doesn't want a new phone. So, I was wondering if it would be possible to upgrade MY phone using the upgrade for that line. We were also wondering, as it is a Blackberry I am looking to upgrade to, if that line would get charged the 29.99 data fee when we buy it. I know that the line that its activated on will get charged that, but when we purchase the phone will the holder of the primary line get charged that one time? All help is appreciated, thanks!!

Yes you can use the other line to upgrade. Any retail store will allow this as well as over the phone or internet. As an annual upgrade there is a $20 dollar early upgrade fee.  The $29.99 is not charge for the data when you buy it but to your bill. If you change in middle of your cycle you will be charged proration according to the cycle of your bill.

The contract for the new phone will apply to the line that is elible for upgrade.

Just to add to Brothergrims's post - the data charge is applied WHEN THE PHONE IS ACTIVATED - so if you use the upgrade on one line but activate it on another (it's called an ALTERNATE upgrade and is very common) the data plan will only be added to the line on which the Blackberry is activated.
