I just upgraded to a Blackberry Curve through my sons phone number, since he was eligible and I wasn't. When I get it, can I just program my number to activate or do I have to use his and then switch it to mine. I am confused about this.

activate it and then you can switch, the phone is useless until it is activated on the line it was meant to be activated on.

They have to activate on his line. You can "re-arrange" the phones online (MyVerizon) once it has been activated. Now and then, you'll find someone in the Verizon store that will be nice enough to do this for you...usually, they don't want to be bothered or they want to charge you $10 to do it. It's really easy to do on-line, so I'd say just swap them yourself. If you cannot figure it out, call customer service (800-922-0204) and they will help you do it...call from a land-line or from another cell that isn't being changed around...
