Verizon phasing out Blackberry??

I went to my local Verizon store today and there were no Blackberry devices.  When I asked, the store owner said that Verizon is in the process of phasing out Blackberry.  She said that there is an issue with Verizon and Blackberry Enterprise.

Anyone hear anything about this??

I read somewhere that RIM said it would phase out their consumer products and focus entirely on marketing phones to businesses ... maybe that's it?

I personally do not believe this to be true, but we will probably find out in about 75 days (Jan 30, 2013) at the Blackberry 10 Launch Event if RIM is giving up on the consumer market.

That is not true...Go to Research In Motion(.com) and read their latest release.  They have Enterprise (business) and personal.  This new release will take place Jan 30, 2013.

Verizon seems to be the one phasing out BB.

Looks like Verizon will be carrying a BB10 phone in the near future.  Goods news as the more competition, the better.

The brand is going through a transitional phase right now, but I believe Verizon will continue to support BB devices. There's a lot of misinformation out there right now about BB, but admittedly, a rep would be better off selling you a device that does everything you want it to now, such as have the apps the other platforms have.

Also, stock may be running low because there hasn't been a major release since the Bold a year ago. RIM is focusing on releasing its new operating system, BB 10, in a few months. And current devices will not be upgradable to BB 10, so while the Bold, for example, may be a great device, you have to think of that when you're signing a two-year contract.

If you're interested in seeing what BB has to offer, try to wait it out just a little longer if you can!

Well, my friend has one with T Mobile. V says that T Moble 4g is the same as V 3g but I had a Blackberry 3g and the internet speed sucked.

I'm sure RIM would only release 4G devices next year if they want to stay in the game. I agree that Internet speeds on the BB browser right now are not good. Downloading the Opera Mini browser from App World does help some. But keep in mind, the BB devices that come out in a couple months are a completely new operating system, so the browser could be as fast as on other platforms. It all remains to be seen, but Jan. 30 is the day RIM is announcing BB10.

Yes. I spoke to VZW Tech Support 3 wks ago and they STRONGLY encouraged me to move away from Blackberry because of BB's snail-like movement to 4G. They offered me a strong  incentive to dump BB for Android and I will take it within the next four weeks. Every 8 weeks or so my Blackberry stops receiving/sending emails on the VZW network. It takes me almost and hour, each time, (on a tech call) to "restore" my phone to  its desired functionality. I've had it...My naive take on it is that RIM is a thing of the past. They can try to play catch up but, sadly, the world has eclipsed them.

Yes Verizon seems to be trying...But BB will have a major release and bring out the BB 10 on Jan 30, 2013.  I have a BB and  have had one for many years.

I am not sure Verizon is the one with the problems.

If  you go to Research In Motion(.com) or Google Blackberry for their web page, you will see a whole new release of the BB, and the companies not complying with the full rollout BB, will only offer the new bold phone on the OS7 platform.

Research in Motion has taken this time to reorganize and pay out debt (they are now nearly a debt free Co).

The new BB 10 will be 4G and many other great features.

Hope this helps all who were told in-accuracies from Verizon.

According to the most recent articles on the web, Verizon will have BB10 devices.  In fact, there are leaked pictures of the all touch screen BBerry with Verizon badging.  So no worries....

DO NOT TALK to any reps about Blackberry!!! THEY WANT YOU TO LEAVE THE STORE with a phone! why would they tell you to wait for a blackberry phone in January - Febuary? think about it. That's why I try to go to the same store where I'm now friends with the manager! she levels with me and tells me the truth. A. they don't know everything verizon is doing until closer to launch. B.I still do my research, because you can't really trust sales people on commission! they make $$$ when you buy NOW! so listen but verify. Go to Blackberry\RIM or Crackberry websites to get more info! don't be lazy, do your own research! but don't trust the sales ppl 100%!  lol
