bad tour?

I just "upgraded" to a Blackberry tour and after one month, suddenly it is mis-behaving.  At times the screen will go black and not re-light at the touch of a button.  After being in the holster and I hear the sonar bing that a message has arrived, I will pull the phone out and the screen will be dark and not light up.  Also just recently, the phone function has ceased to work.  I will call out, voice mail, *611, the phone states I am connected but I hear zippo, nada, dead quite.  I have done the soft reset, hard reset, and am at the point where I feel I need to wipe the phone and start over.  Any suggestions?  Ahhhh  paper weight mode.
