i just recently got the curve and was wondering if you could make different ringtones for text messages and if so how do you do it?

Hi,

Yes, you can make ringtones from, say, your favorite song, by using a 3rd party software.  Such a program would be a ringtone maker.  Google search for ringtone make and you should find a few programs, some of which may be free.
