5.0 upgrade and SMS text Delivery Problem

Since the 5.0 upgrade, some of my SMS text are not getting delivered. I am told that the little Donly appears for Verizon customers only so it is hard to tell if outside sms text are being delivered. I used to be able to do this before the upgrade.  When I called the Verizon Help, they told me to call back when I have the person there with me. UGHHHH.  How can I fix this? I end up calling to see if they got my text which defeats the purpose.  There has got to be another without bothering my family and/or friends with a long Verizon service call that may or may not work.  Thanks.
