8330 as faxserver from desktop?

It appears that when my blackberry curve 8330 is connected to my new desktop windows 7 PC I can fax outgoing but I lack a destination number to test that on.  The question is important because I lack a landline or server for faxes and the restrictions of faxserver services make them useless to me (I need to be able to send PDF's multipages no waiting but infrequently enough to prevent subscribing to expensive services).  Am I a dinosaur in realizing this or kidding myself?  Thanks
