8330Curve-All Outlook Calendar items lost after device/desktop upgrade. How do I get it back?

I was having issues with my BB, and was told by Verizon that they would probably be resolved if I upgraded the device software so I did.  I also upgraded the desktop software while I was at it. When I had it sync two way, most of the calendar items on the device were duplicated.  I deleted all the duplicates, then changed it to sync from device to outlook, and did another sync .  Now there are no calendar items in Outlook, but the device is fine.  With the old desktop software, it just did the sync, taking all changes  from device or outlook, and applied them to the other.  What am I doing wrong?  How can I get all calendar items from the device back into outlook?
