I have found my answer through Blackberry's website... this device is has been released..

the Blackberry website also states

FEATURES:

    • 2515 mAh battery (Up to 22 hours battery life)
    • 3.5” touch display
    • BlackBerry 10.3 Browser
    • 8MP rear camera /2MP Front Facing Camera
    • 16GB memory
    • Detailed Tech Specs
  • This version works with GSM Carriers only; bands: FD-LTE: 1,2,4,5,7,13,17,25. HSPA: 1,2,4,5/6
  • This version of BlackBerry Classic will not work on Verizon, Sprint, or US Cellular. US Carrier specific devices will be available at a later date.
  • NOTE: This device requires a nano SIM card.

this is a situation that Verizon , Sprint or US Cellular has NO control over... BlackBerry has designed this device a certain way for some reason.. you may find the answer on their site.. but unfortunately ,, Verizon can not assist you with an answer to why...

Blackberry does state... that devices will be available to all carriers at a later date,,,

I agree with FlyingDutchman and Justinian2220.  I too want real answers and a timeline.  Don't send me useless links to your website.  I know what you have on there and it does not include the phone I want, the Blackberry Passport.  I have zero interest in either an iPhone or any kind of android.  As unflashy as my Blackberry may seem, my phone has been way more stable and reliable than the iPhones and other phones of friends, family, and acquaintances.  Actually, I believe other phones are over-hyped and Blackberry is under promoted.

I was with AT&T before joining Verizon 9 years ago and don't wish to go back but I have signed up for the Passport updates and would consider moving.

Every manufacturer has to make two different models of phones, one for GSM and one for CDMA. That is nothing out of the ordinary.  That is just alerting you that the current model is for GSM carriers since the Verizon variant has not been released. But. Verizon does need to hurry up and release this thing. They are almost always the last carrier to release products and updates. It really gets old.

The problem is that you really cannot buy a Classic in the US unless you order direct from Blackberry - and this is nearly two months after they unveiled the phone and news keeps coming of all the other country launches for the Classic.  With the exception of small regional carrier US Cellular, you cannot find the Classic anywhere.  Most disappointing is that Verizon will not even say "its coming" without a date - and they surely are not giving out any date.  A news blogger today indicated that a "spokesman" for Verizon told them the Classic would not hit Verizon until JULY.  When the Classic was unveiled by John Chen on December 17th Verizon said it would carry the Classic in the first quarter of 2015.  We are now nearly half way through the first quarter and no news at all.  It is disheartening and makes one give serious thought to bailing on Verizon for ATT.  At least ATT has started taking emails for release news on the Classic - and are open that they are going to carry it soon.  IT IS TIME FOR SOME NEWS VERIZON ON YOUR RELEASE PLANS FOR THIS PHONE!!!

Verizon is waiting for word from BlackBerry on when the device will be available. They cannot tell us what they don't themselves know yet. Even AT&T has no clue when the Passport or Classic will be released by them. Reps have gotten word that they will offer the devices "at some point" but no date has been sent and no training classes have been scheduled.

BlackBerry market share slipped so badly in the U.S. that it's no wonder Chen & Co. have shifted focus away from North America and into places where BlackBerry still enjoys a (relatively) strong user base.

PS - You NEVER leave a carrier (if you're satisfied with price/network) just to get the latest hotness in handsets. I've done it, and what a blunder! I left AT&T to get the Palm Pre on Sprint on Day 1 of availability. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot!!
