I followed the instructions on the Verizon Wireless website for downloading the 5.0 upgrade to my BB Storm and no where did I see anything about the possibility of this happening. Any suggestions out there? So much for enhanced capabilities!!!!
Every smartphone user should know that you need to have a backup or do a backup before installing something on the phone.

If you followed the instructions, then your missing contacts should be backed up. Plug your device back up to your computer and run Blackberry Desktop Manager. Go to the Restore feature and restore any missing contacts with the Desktop Manager.

Yes you should always make sure you have all your contact information backed up. I use ZBook, it was fast and easy to install and allowed me to change information from the web. I used the blackberry assistant once but when I switched from one storm to a new storm my information was lost. So I always keep and independent backup.
