My daughters blackberry bold was stolen from her a party yesterday. I called asurion immediately to file a claim and when I completed the claim online, the deductible was $99. I thought it was $50. My son's driod (1) broke a few months ago,and when we filed the claim with asurion then the deductible was $50. What's the deal with a $99 deductible?
I believe the deductible goes by phone model. Unfortunately for the Bold its 99. Depending on how long shes had it you might see if Verizon will cut you a deal on a refurbished Bold. Otherwise $99 is a bargain compared to full replacement cost. Sorry it happened to you. Make sure you notified Verizon so they can deactivate it otherwise you could end up with plan charges too !
Thanks for the quick reply! I did notify Verizon as soon as we found out and they put it on the negative list so that no one will be able to activate it again. I didn't know about purchasing refurbished phones from verizon. If you purchase a refurbished phone from them, do you have to extend your contract? If I do not have insurance on a phone, the refurbished phone would be a good option.
Thanks.
No problem and glad to help. If you still have an upgrade(new every 2 was discontinued with the IPhone) yes you would have to extend but if you just purchase a refurb replacement then no you don't have to upgrade. Good luck and hopefully she did back ups to make the new phone easy.
Thank you Leeford54 for your input. Your participation is always appreciated.
lsg, the answer is correct. Asurion does have multiple tiers of deductibles which are based upon the make and model of your wireless device. For pricing and more information about Asurion insurance coverage, please click here.
