BB 8330 Sync issues w/ Outlook & Desktop Manager

i have a blackberry 8330 and i have been experiencing sync issues with my outlook and desktop manager lately. when i connect via the usb cable, BB desktop manager goes through the sync process and it stops about 8 contacts short from successfully completing the process. i get a "unable to read application data" message. i have tried rebooting my phone and updating the desktop manager software, but nothing seems to work.
does anyone have any suggestions?

Well one manual way is to try to figure out what contacts have not synced to the phone. From this list, try to identify anything that might be unique to a certain contact. There could be a weird issue with one of the contacts.
