I just got a Blackberry Curve 8530 and the battery dies very fast just in standby. I do not have  any apps running or anything I close them all. Scene its new should I charge the battery for 12hrs before I use it again will that do anything. Or should I just buy a new battery.

I think I set my bb to a good power plane

Blacklight off in 10secs

screen brightness 70%

No key tone

Any other hints?

Do you have WiFi configured?  If so, your battery may drain fast if:

1 - The router you have configured is not accessable.

or

2 - The router you "think" you are connected to may need a WEP password or some other sort of configuration.

Try turning off the WiFi featurre if it is on to see if that helps.

If you look at the main screen on your Curve, do you see "WiFi" at the top of the screen (along with your battery life icon, connection bar icons, etc.)?  If so, you may want to go to options on your phone and turn it off completly.

Don't forget to check bluetooth, too!  Bluetooth, if left on, will eat a battery for breakfast and ask for more.

Could this be killing my battery and if so is my blackberry not working right. The signal can go from 4 bars all the way to none. Stay at no signal for a few then jumps back to 4 bars.
