Just noticed that the price for the bold 9930 dropped $50, from $249 to $199- does it have anything to do
with the possible release of the iphone 5 in the next two weeks??

It could signal a new device might be coming. I did notice how the Bold 9650 dropped in price about a month or two before the latest BB devices were released. The thing I would watch for would be a Buy One, Get One free deal. I snagged a couple of Droid 3's that way and also got a couple of BB Tour's a couple of years ago.
