Hi, all,
As most of you may know, Verizon Wireless has announced the release of the iPhone 4 for 2/10/11. As a Blackberry owner and fan for over 4 years, I was curious of how many Blackberry owners would "jump ship" or "go to the dark side" of the iPhone. My question to you is this, "Are you going to stay with the Blackberry or get an iPhone 4"? I have to admit, it was a great deal for Verizon, as they will have the best of everything for the smartphone shopper. From Android, to iPhone to Blackberry...they will have a great choice. As a die-hard Blackberry fan, I am going to stick with my Bold for now, until a really great Blackberry device that tickles my fancy is released by Verizon. Let me know how you feel. Please comment...

Ahh the Great Question: iPhone or BB? My NE2 isn't up until Jul 3, 2012 so I have plenty of time decide. I love my BB Tour and evidently have to love it for the next 18 months. The poll at CB shows about 56% will stick with BB. In a business sense I think VZW has played it very smart with all the options; Droid, iPhone, BB. Personally I would have liked them to pick up the Torch or Style, both pretty cool BBs. So I defer my decision for 18 months, whether I want to or not.
P.S. If I had to choose RIGHT NOW I would probably go with a VZW Bold or jump to AT&T Torch.

WHA?!?! Verizon's getting the iPhone???
(I kid.)
I never say never, but I'm going to wait and see what RIM comes out with. I've tried every other smartphone platform, and BlackBerry just meets my needs best right now. Plus, I'm starting to feel like I'm over the days of paying $200-300 for a phone when most of my free time is spent doing stuff outdoors (I should probably own a Brigade).
I just hope RIM comes out with something soon ... I was really disappointed not to hear anything at CES.
What are YOUR thoughts on this topic, Doc?

Hey,
I figured any announcement for new devices would not happen. It is all about the Playbook right now for RIM. That was what CES was all about this year...the Playbook. I am hoping some new devices are around the corner, though. Hopefully soon, but I don't think Verizon would push any new Blackberry devices now since all of their marketing will be for pushing the iPhone. But I can hope...

For me, this is a no brainer, since I am not an "official" Blackberry user yet (soon . . . like tomorrow!) , but thought long and hard about jumping into the world of Blackberry, I'm staying with BB. LCromwell said it's an adult business phone, and that's exactly how I intend to use it. Well said!
My son (25) has had the iPhone since it's debut on AT&T, and had the iPhone4 the day it was released - so I've seen it, and watched him play with it. It does do some fun stuff, and it's like his computer, phone, communication tool, and gaming gadget with him and active at all times. Works great for a 25 year old!
I need my email, and client communications - and I plan to use it to view websites on a mobile device so I can better design sites for mobile viewing and use. Networking, email, and work - I think a BB will be a better fit for me than the iPhone.

Hi,
Great comments from all, especially LCromwell. I forgot until he reminded us the iPhone has a battery that can not be easily replaced, whereas the Blackberry does. Keep the comments coming and thanks to all.

You don't know how long I have been waiting for this day. Yes, I will go from my blackberry touch to the verizon iphone. I really have not been happy with the blackberry touch for a variety of reasons but got stuck with a contract and I did not want to go the AT&T.

Forgot to point out my BlackBerry helped me land several projects last year. Some clients email, asking if I want a project, and if the deadline is tight, they contact another freelancer if they don't hear back from me in an hour. Nothing beats push email and the obnoxiously noticeable flashing LED on BlackBerry!

Thanks Doc for starting this topic. I too can't decide. I have the BB Tour 9630 and do love it except for the trackball! I'm due for an early upgrade now. I have the iPad and love that too! Will the iPhone download webpages at the same speed of the BB? I don't use my BB for work, although I do love getting my emails on my phone. Although, mine do take time to come thru to my phone once it hits my inbox. Would love some feedback.
Thanks!!
