I have a Blackberry Curve 8330. When my device loses connectivity (e.g., in the subway), the data connection is very slow (3-10+ minutes) to reactivate once I have a signal again. The voice connection works nearly immediately.
I have tried to turn off and on the connection, but that does not always resolve the problem.
What's the normal/typical lag time for the data connection to work again?
Thanks.

When in the subway I lose signal as expected. When I'm above ground again, the signal monitor shows several bars. At this point, I would expect to receive voice & data connectivity. However, only voice works -- data does not work. When I try to use any data applications -- they just hang in some "connecting..." type mode.

Yeah your right you should get data if you have several bars you should? Not unless for curve you need more?
So its only some locations then? that could very be the problem right there!

The problem doesn't seem to be tied to the location. It seems to be tied to regaining signal. Once I regain a signal, the data connection won't work for many minutes.

I went thru this when I got back into the US from Bermuda. I had my phone turned off and when I got into the Atlanta airport I switched everything back on. It would not get emails. I was getting ready to ask a kiosk in the airport to see if they could help me get a connection and then it started working again. So I think it takes a while once connection has been lost to re establish connection again. Makes no sense to me. It would seem like it would instantly reach out and grab the Verizon signal and work. So maybe it heard me threaten to go to a competitors Kiosk maybe it just started working again . LOL

You know JCM that is a great idea. I wish I had tried it while on my stop over at the Atlanta airport. I was so tired and I was trying to set up my connection with our driver who was picking us up at 1AM at the Houston airport. I just never thought of that. He was to have sent an email telling me the car number and double checking our flight info. which was delayed an hour (Thanks Delta the most NOT on time airline). Anyway it finally worked out as it started working.
