Blackberry 9930 in for repairs...Lose Unlimited Plan if activate old Droid?

Hello All:

I tried to switch devices on the Verizon website and activate an old Verizon Droid (A855) I own as I wait for the repair parts to come in for my out of warranty 9930 Bold. The site says I have to switch data plans and I will lose my grandfathered unlimited plan. Seems pretty harsh penalty for switching between two Verizon branded smartphones I have paid for with them. Can this truly be the policy?
