Blackberry Bold 9650 not syncing with Hotmail

Hello all.  I'm sure I'm not the only one with this issue, as I've seen posts regarding this on the internet.

 

This started when I switched from my Tour to my new Bold.  I had one email account set up on my BB Tour which was a Hotmail account using (MSNMSP) as the protocol for sending and receiving.

 

After switching to the Bold, it only allows me to connect to my Hotmail account using POP.  This is very frusterating because my email is no longer quick, it can take between 15 and 30 minutes.  It was almost instant before.

 

After looking for solutions on the internet, it appears Verizon no longer allows their customers to use the MSNMSP protocol on their devices and are forcing them to use POP for all Hotmail accounts.  What's going on?  Is this correct?  Any fix for this?

Are you using a free account or a paid subscription hotmail account?
