Blackberry Bold and WiFi

I am sure this is a pretty basic problem, but I am travelling abroad (with global data plan), but I would rather receive email and browse with the hotel's free wifi.  I am connected, but when I go to browse, I receive an error "A communication failure has occerrued.  The server may be busy, please try again later.  If teh problem persists, contact your service provider."


I am connected to the wifi network with teh BB.  My "data services" is set to OFF, as I was told I would be billed against the 3G usage.  Email does not come in either.


I can connect correctly with my laptop, so I have something wrong with the BB settings.


Any help?

This may be fixed by simply pulling the battery from the phone while its powered on and leaving it out for 10-15 seconds. When you turn it back on, try to restart the wi-fi connection and use the browser.  Additional advanced troubleshooting can be found here.
