I tried to upgrade an application and was asked to enter my password, which failed. I then chose the change password option which brought up a window which said Password Recovery with my Blackberry e-mail address, and the option buttons of OK and Cancel. I clicked OK, but that window remains open, frozen, and unresponsive. I can escape it, which I did, and found the e-mail message which allowed me to reset my password, but when I returned to blackberry applications, that window is still open and unresponsive. I turned my Blackberry off and back on, but no success. What can I do to correct this?

Instead of turning your BB off then on again (which really doesn't turn it off) try rebooting by simultaneously pressing the Alt-Right Shift-Del button. This should resolve your frozen screen/app.
