Have an older BB 8830, was working well until  couple of days ago.  It stopped receiving emails.  All other functions still work, outbound emails, phone, internet, text messaging, etc.  Have rebooted, talked with Verizon on the phone and they reset device and roaming, but still no inbund emails.  Email server is AOL.  Anybody have any idea what is going on and how to fix???

Has anything changed in your settings? You'll have to make sure no filters are set up, to filter incoming emails, and that a copy of your emails is left on the host server. I would recommend resending service books, but if you're receiving emails, I don't think that's the issue. And you've tried a battery pull or two?

There may be a few different reasons, your not able to receive emails. I have listed those reasons below and some steps to resolve them.

This issue might be caused by one of the following:

  1. The setting to Send email to handhelds is not turned on.
  2. Folder redirection is not turned on for your Blackberry phone user  inbox.

(Steps below)

If your setting to Send Email To Handheld is not turned on, you may follow the steps below:

  1. Click Messages on the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone.
  2. Press the Menu key and click Options > Email Filters.
  3. Highlight Send Email To Handheld and change the setting from No to Yes.
  4. Press the Menu key and click Save

If your folder redirection is not turned on for your BlackBerry smartphone inbox,  you can follow the steps below:

  1. Click Messages on the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone.
  2. Press the Menu key and click Options > Email Settings.
  3. Click Email Settings.
  4. Make sure that Message Service is set to Desktop.
  5. Press the Menu key and click Folder Redirection.
  6. Expand Mailbox - <username>.
  7. Verify that the Inbox option is selected or colored in.
Additionally, the filtering settings for your email server may be too restrictive for the BlackBerry smartphone to receive email messages. You can use the steps below to check and change your email filter settings.

  1. Log in to the webmail for the email account.
  2. Select Options > More Options.
  3. Under Junk e-mail, select Filters and Reporting.
  4. Change the junk email filter to the Standard or Low setting. The majority of email messages will arrive in the Inbox of the email account instead of the Junk folder.
The last option to attempt in resolving your issues is to remove your email account from your Blackberry and re-add it. I have listed the steps below to first delete the email and steps to re-add it.
  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu button.
  2. Highlight the desired email account then press the Menu button.
  3. Select Delete
  4. Select Yes.

To add an email account, you may use the steps below:

  3. Select Email Settings.
  4. If presented, enter the appropriate User name and Password (located within the Existing Users section) then select Log In.
