I use BBM to send messages to both BB and non-BB owners? Do I get charged for the messages sent to and from?
BB Messenger doesn't cost anything extra to use. Its use is included in the cost of your BB data plan, unlike text/pix/flix messaging.

Hi,
Blackberry Messenger (BBM) is exclusive on Blackberry devices. If you added your friends to BBM as an SMS contact, which is part of the OS 5.0, then you are sending a text message through the BBM interface. You will be charged for SMS messaging for those contacts. BBM, to answer you question, uses data for instant messages between BBM instant messenger contacts, so you are not charged for BBM messages sent or recieved. Just make sure you have an appropriate texting plan for your device, so you don't get an unexpected bill if you add an SMS contact via BBM
