A friend of mine has a Blackberry Palm Pre that has some major issues, dead spots on the touch screen, cracks, etc. His wife just changed to a new smartphone and gave him her old Blackberry Palm Pre to put on his phone number. He took the 2 phones to 2 different Verizon retail stores to switch from his old broken phone to her used phone. He can not remember the email address or the password for that email address when he first activated his Palm Pre 2 years ago. The stores are telling him that because he can not remember that information that he can not change to his wife's used Palm.
This does not make sense to me. I understand that the broken phone he is trying to make due with at this time is synced to whatever email address he used for activation. But how does that impact any new smart phone that he tries to activate? He gave the store his current email address and password and tried to activate this used phone with that information but the phone would not sync.
There has got to be a solution to this. He is changing from Palm Pre to Palm Pre. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there any place in the phone itself that he can go to see what email address it is currently synced to? I can not imagine he is the only person to have forgotten the address or password for the email account currently synced to his smartphone.
