I downloaded OS 5.0 for my Storm 9530 last night. It runs great. I love my phone again. It stopped all the memory leaks.
My only problem is when I reinstalled two themes that I bought from crackberry.com. The themes pull up and run properly. But when I turn my phone to landscape the background image doesn't stretch all the way and the icons blurr or freeze on screen when i scroll. up and down. Besides this everything else is great. The themes say they are compatible with OS 5.0.
Any help or suggestions would be wonderful. Thanks in advance.

My Corvette Theme does the same thing. I deleted it and re downloaded it and it still does it. It says for 4.7 and the 5.0 version but there is something in the RIM software that creates bars on the side and keeps the Theme from expanding on both sides.

The worst part is MobilHand is not replying to messages sent them about this problem.

mln1523,
I have to agree both my Storm 9530 and my mothers, who just got hers 2 days ago, were good on themes. Now after the installation of the new OS 5.0 my themes, all 4 of them, do the exact same thing.
Blurred icon edges, bars both left and right of the screen in landscape mode. I have tried many different themes and none of them work.
I hope someone can indentify this issue and find a resolution soon. I like my themes I created and others so hopefully soon.

Hi, all,
There seems to be a problem with some themes interpreting the software update. I have read that some users overcame the problem by changing the wallpaper on the theme and it might work. Worth a try.

This is a known issue with the new OS update. These themes were not written for 5.0. Give the developers time to update their themes...they will come. in the meantime, just use the boring 'ol factory theme or download some developed for 5.0. There are tons of freebies out there. A great resource is:: {no third party software/apps links please} for cool themes and apps (most free) for your BB's and Windos Mobile phones. Check him out often. He updates all the time. His content can be trusted. if there is a good working theme for BB 5.0.XX he will post it !

Same thing is happening here, and changing the wallpaper didn't fix it. Kind of disappointed. I had just purchased a premium theme that I cannot use now. I hope this issue is fixed soon.

I've had this problem as well. There is a workaround! I found this on a UK website. From your home screen, hit the BlackBerry Button, then go to Options and Layout, change to 3 rows and save then go back to Layout and change back to your theme's original layout and save again. I tried this with 2 third party themes and it works. Note that any time you do a battery pull or hard reset (such as deleting programs) you'll have to do this procedure again, but this is a good start until the themes are updated.

Anyone else have success with this before I post as the solution in the floating threads up top?

I was really frustrated with this issue and started looking for an answer (which brought me here to this forum). Somehow, my theme works perfectly today and I did not do anything with it (not even a battery pull)! The white bars are gone as well as the fuzzy edges in landscape mode. Anyone else have thier theme work fine all of a sudden?

Doesn't help with the Corvette theme, I tried it. Thanks for the suggestion.

I've found it works with BeBerry, iBerry Blocks, and HeroBerry themes on my device. After monitoring the memory leaks all day, I decided to go back to the default theme as with the os 5 update I'm not having to do resets due to memory leaks with the default theme.

Wish would could mark this "possible solution" that’d be great. Thank you for continuing to post on this, every bit helps!

Unfortunately that workaround didn't work on the theme I use (pip-berry 5000). Here's what happened when I did it. I lost the wallpaper to the original wallpaper when it was in its 3 row profile in portrait mode. Then when I switched it back to the 2 row (its default) the original profile remained, but the landscape mode was top half pip-berry and bottom half original wallpapers with the white bars. Unfortunately, I had to reset default wallpaper.

When you were using the theme with the new os were you having any freezes with other apps?
As for your wallpaper the maker will have to update their software before it will work, I'd check back with them or just try the wallpaper from time to time.

No issues with any of the default apps or any that I downloaded. I did notice the OTA for the youtube app from google wouldn't even install. Says its not compatible with my device even though blackberry was selected. Facebook, Myspace, edocrab, and a few others worked fine, had an issue with email not wanting to send but figured out the work around for that, sometimes the camera doesn't want to snap a pic but it doesn't freeze or cause a battery pull or anything.

Again these fixes may not work for all...
Users may try this...
From your device home screen touch the screen one time.
The Device should now list the application screen.
Next select the Menu(Blackberry) button. Scroll down the menu list and select options.
The device should now be in Home Screen Preferences.
Open (Set Home Screen Layout)
Select the Today setting the menu button and save.
Now open the (Set Home Screen Layout) and select either 1 row or 2 rows. Which ever is your preference. Most have had best results from the 2 row setting. Remember to save the settings.
Good Luck....
