Found a support site for the Tour @ http://support.vzw.com/system_update/bb_tour.html that says Update coming soon.
Crackberry.com found some leaked information that the update will be version 5.0.0.591.
Haven't found an official/unofficial change log. But Crackberry.com did list some of the key improvements in the new software:
- Camera - Smoother operation in both camera and video applications.
- Calling - Improved Bluetooth functionality for last number dialed, enhanced functionality for Voice Activated Dialing in both French and English, improved missed call log showing missed Call Waiting calls, and upgraded Call Waiting caller ID and call timer.
- Messaging - Improved functionality for reading, sending, forwarding, and deleting SMS messages as well as corrected in-box display when in holster.
- Bluetooth - Improvements in operation when using VZ Navigator
- Push To Talk - Push To Talk capability Software Availability
I'll work on trying to find a more detailed change log for the update, but for now read Crackberry's article here.
Looks like the wait is finally over, folks. Let's just hope it was worth it.

Thanks Chileman,
Thanks for that update. Just to elaborate a little about the upgrade, or any upgrade for that matter...backup, backup, backup. Backup your data with Blackberry Desktop Manager before doing any upgrade so you won't lose your data. If you have never upgraded a Blackberry before, there is any easy to follow website that gives detailed information on how-to upgrade at Crackberry found here. Good luck,
Doc

Hi Doc,
The Blackberry Device Manager installed in my PC shows that 5.0.0.591 is already available. I was amazed and excited to upgrade my BB tour. So, i started doing my stuff... Upon continuing, to my surprise, I could no longer continue... because of this: " ONLY ACTIVE BLACKBERRY SERVICE SUBSCRIBERS ARE ENTITLED TO INSTALL THIS BLACKBERRY DEVICE SOFTWARE UPGRADE." Doc, What is this? I'm here in the philippines... what can i do? My current device software is 4.7.1.61...

Mixer1,
No, the number of characters in an SMS message is still 160. That will probably never change.

Hi,
The update will be released by Verizon on Monday night about midnight. You will need to go to http://vzw.smithmicro.com/blackberry/ to download the update to your computer. If you have never updated a Blackberry, you need to read the how-to article at Crackberry.com found at http://crackberry.com/blackberry-101-how-install-or-upgrade-new-rim-operating-system-os that explains how to install an update for an OS. One very important thing is to back up your device's current information such as contacts, etc. so you will not lose any information. Do that with Blackberry Desktop Manager.

Downloaded version 5.0.0.591 last night and some things do seem to work better. However, I've noticed that the Mute key no longer puts the phone in standby mode. Is there a reason RIM/VZW removed this functionality? I frequently used this in order to conserver battery power while at the same time locking the keyboard. The lock button does not fully lock all of the keys and if the phone is in your pocket the display will constantly be activated.

This is a decision that RIM made and affects all devices running OS 5.0.
Don't know why they took it away. I liked it too.
Crackberry.com wrote an article about it with a confirmation directly from RIM in their knowledge base.

Hello,
After upgrate to version 5 all my emails come in text format instead of html... I downgraded to 4.7 but it still text. How can I switch it back or it's some kind of new feature to save data usage?
I have Tour.
Thanks!

Open the messages folder. Press the Menu key and select Options>Email Settings. Change Enable HTML Email to Yes. Press the Menu key again and save.

Enjoying the new OS. I appreciate the rearrangements in the Options menu.
Some note worthy changes:
New function to automatically update the Time Zone based on your location.
Easier to understand Security Wipe menu and the ability to wipe personal info, 3rd party apps or the memory card separately or all at once.
Threaded SMS.
Native file explorer (Found it in the Applications folder; a file cabinet icon labled "Files").
I also found a more detailed change log with a list of improvements:

I did the upgrade right when it became available. Overall I'm a fan of the new operating system. I do, however, have a few complaints:
1. Battery life is HORRIBLE after the update - phone did not make it through the day with minimal use
2. Browser click issue - such a pain that 50% of the time the links don't work and you can't zoom in without having to either click 72 times or open the menu and click "zoom in" or "open link"
3. I know that RIM did it with all 5.0 versions but I find it very annoying that the "standby" function is now the "lock" button because it is uncomfortable having to press the button on that side of the phone - very petty, but obnoxious.
4. I love the new threaded SMS but when you hit the "back" button to erase what you've written so far (like you can in BBM) it takes you out to the mailbox and saves the SMS as a draft - it should erase the field like it does in BBM. **bleep** that it is the same function but actually functions differently.
PLEASE SOMEONE FROM VERIZON OR RIM READ THIS AND MAKE CHANGES VERRRRRRRRRRRY QUICK!
Need a patch fix ASAP

Problems with recent software upgrade:
First, after installing the recent software upgrade, and synchronizing, my recurring events on my Outlook calendar were changed to begin at 4am or 5am, rather than at midnight; this has made all of the events two day events. This happened for all annual events, holidays, and other recurring events. The calendar on my Blackberry seems to be ok. The problem is rather that the Blackberry upgrade caused significant changes in the data on the Outlook calendar on my laptop.
If there’s no good fix, it’s going to be a daunting task to manually fix all of these unwelcome changes in my Outlook calendar.
Second, the email folders on my Blackberry now contain nothing more than a very small fraction and very random sampling of SMS messages I’ve sent and received, plus some notifications about Voice Mails. I’m wondering what happened to the great volume of recent SMS messages that were in the SMS/MMS folder, and what happened to all those emails that were in the email folder(s). The SMS and MMS folder contains exactly the same SMS material as the email folders.
I did go into the Blackberry and had it resend the service books, hoping this would resolve the problem. Unfortunately this did not work.
Help! Please advise how to resolve these problems.
