Every time I go to use my phone I get this small thing that looks like a clock with the hand going around like it's locked up
takes for ever to use it? Does anyone know what is going on?

Welcome to the Verizon Forums. The indicator you mentioned is called an hourglass, comparable to the hourglass icon on a PC when the system is busy. If you find your Blackberry doing that a lot, a regular pull of the battery will refresh your device's memory and make your Blackberry run a little better. I usually perform a Quickpull every day, just to keep things running smoothly.
