Blackberry tour help.....is it dead or what?

Hey I have had my Blackberry Tour for almost two months.  I have had zero problems with it until now.  I went to bed last night with my battery slightly less then half charged.  I did not put it on the charger and woke up this morning to a completely blank screen, no reaction to pushing buttons etc.  I figured the battery died over night so I put the phone on my charger for roughly 3 hours.  After the three hours I tried to turn my phone on but no response.  Has anyone had this type of problem?  What could be going on?  Any ideas what to do?  Thanks for any help!

Hi,

Pull the battery out and then put it back, allowing your device's memory to refresh.  See if it will reboot and run after that.

Doc,

I have done this twice...I am somewhat a Blackberry newbie but this is rather frustrating to not have a telephone.  I have yet to charge my phone with it powered off, if it is chargnig while off should there not be some kind of indicator light.  Maybe it is not charging at all.

The thing that worries me is that I have not charged my phone with less battery and woke up the next morning with it fine.  The fact that I woke up and it was just nothing makes me believe there possibly could be something else wrong besdies a dead battery.  Thanks for your help!!

Hi,

Ok, I was afraid that might be the case.  Try to connect your device to your computer and load Blackberry Desktop Manager.  Even if your device is not detected at this point by your computer, go to restore on BDM and attempt to restore your device.  That might get you going.  Let me know how it goes.  It sounds like your Tour's software might have become somehow corrupted.

Hi,

My Tour did a similar event a week ago after I was trying to install an app.  I found it was the new app that was interfering, so I deleted it via BDM and restored my device.  I think it might have been a corrupted download.

I am charging it through my computer and it seems to be working. I think maybe my charger went out...dunno how but whatever.  The battery was completely dead so I am hoping that was what it is.  I also deleted the last couple of apps that I had uploaded.  Bad thing was they were all Verizon apps. Like song id and ringtones.  Thanks so much for all the help!

Have you checked the wall plug where the charger is plugged in with a lamp or something you know works when plugged in? It could also be the GFI wall plug, either on that wall socket or somewhere in the wall socket line. I noticed sometimes when I plug in my wall charger in my bathroom I inadvertently trip the GFI ( Ground Fault Interrupter).  It has a rectangle black and red button. The black button trips it off and the red button resets it.

Hey,

I didn't think about the simple thing like checking the outlet, LOL.  I guess it's like they say, 2 heads are better than 1.  Maybe we can figure it out for him.
